Custom Formal Wear Guide

For more than 65 years, Mister Tuxedo has helped Dallas gentlemen dress for life’s most important occasions. Our custom formal wear program is built around the same principles that have guided our business for decades: proper fit, quality construction, personal service, and timeless style.

Whether you are looking for a tuxedo, suit, dinner jacket, sport coat, or trousers, our custom process allows you to select the fabric, lining, trim, and finishing details while ensuring the garment is properly fitted to you.

Each garment is made through one of our trusted custom clothing partners in Canada or Italy using high-quality fabrics from respected mills around the world. From the first fitting to the final adjustment, our team and in-house tailor are here to guide the process and make sure the finished garment is something you will be proud to wear.

1. Initial Consultation

The custom process begins with a visit to Mister Tuxedo. No appointment is necessary to get started.

During your visit, we will discuss the occasion, timeline, budget, and overall vision for your garment. We will also walk you through fabric options, style details, linings, trims, and any special considerations based on what you are hoping to create.

2. Fit and Style Selection

We stock a full size run of try-on garments to help determine the proper starting fit. You will try on sample pieces so we can evaluate the jacket, trouser, sleeve, body, and overall silhouette.

From there, we will take detailed measurements and note any adjustments needed for your build, posture, and preferences. At the same time, you will choose the fabric, lining, trim, buttons, lapel style, and other finishing details.

Once everything is selected, your measurements and design choices are sent to our custom clothing partners for production.

3. Production

Your garment will be made by one of our carefully selected production partners in Canada or Italy. These makers were chosen for their craftsmanship, consistency, and attention to detail.

Please allow approximately 4–6 weeks for your garment to arrive in store.

4. Second Fitting

Once your garment arrives, we will contact you to come in for a second fitting. At this appointment, you will try on the garment so we can evaluate the fit and make any necessary adjustments.

Our in-house master tailor will then complete any final alterations needed to refine the garment.

5. Final Fitting and Pick-Up

After alterations are complete, you will return for a final fitting and pick-up. We will make sure the garment fits properly, feels comfortable, and is ready for the occasion.

Our goal is for you to leave Mister Tuxedo with a custom garment you look forward to wearing for years to come.
